what's it like to live in the 49th state?
No sun in the winter, no darkness during summer months. Bitter cold, tundra, and wild critters at every turn. Igloos, snow, ice, the Northern Lights. A lack of roads, getting mail via sled dog team, and mosquitoes as big as airplanes.
Fact is, there's a lot of misconceptions out there about what it's like to live in this great place we call home. This, as well as the pages linked from this page, will serve to dispell some of the myths as well as highlight some less commonly known facts. We'll also be setting up a page dedicated to visitor's information and helpful links to plan a trip up North.
If you're looking in this section for a detailed description of what daily life is like, you'd be better off browsing through my journal. It's not 100% about Alaska-the minutia of day-to-day life here isn't much different than the day-to-day life Outside-however, you'll get our experiences and adventures.
